Africa-Centered Solutions

PANGO-post's team of postal experts seeks innovative solutions that efficiently and rapidly expand the postal operations in Africa.  We assist PAPU members in identifying and developing growth-based projects.  We work together to identify "best African practices" that can be implemented by PAPU member states. 

Some examples of our work:

• PANGO-post's primary postal consultants from the Canadian organization Postal Services International (PSI) have recently been involved with PAPU and some of its members in rescue efforts associated with the demise of Postal Solutions Ltd. (PSL), the postal software group from Britain. A recommendation as a result of this project is an open architecture software that PAPU can make available to any of its members.  The current cost of software is exorbitant.  An open architecture system could be implemented on the whole continent for much the same cost as a single country.

• PANGO-post consultants have been involved with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) in the feasibility study of an electronic postal system that can deliver hybrid mail to rural and remote parts of the world. The study showed conclusively that, with the involvement of a group of countries, this concept is economically viable. PSI has named this concept U-Post^SM (to indicate its universal application and accessibility) and has contributed its intellectual capital on this subject to PANGO-post.  PSI is ready to assist in its implementation once funding has been identified.
